Look closely and you will see this is a shop window full of postcards. Hand-drawn postcards with heartfelt little obituaries. I can spot Susan Sontag (famous for her writings about photography and a core part of any university photography degree course….I studied her on my MA)….Jacques Derrida (now he rings a bell from studying philosophy in my first year at university….I have studied a LOT of things! I think it’s all going on there in the background when I photograph and affects how and what I choose to create)….Hunter S Thompson (started and never finished the classic Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas)… but then there is definitely a musician in there (Rick James?) and possibly an artist or too….hmmm, maybe it’s someone’s out heroes collections…a very personal hall of fame…I love this idea. Maybe one day I will do my own Hall of Fame on her with the people that have influences and inspired me….
Found in the Mission district in San Francisco. Spotted on a solo trip wondering the streets… I think being on your own is always best for your awareness and attention…at these times I’m completely focused on my surroundings and in the moment….
I don’t know the story of how they got there or who made them….it’s a magical little mystery. If you found them too and know the story behind them let me know…

Gosh Polly, I love that idea. Very moving. Maybe I’ll do that one day too. Thanks for sharing that glimpse with us. I was just looking up Elena and Dino’s wedding and stopped to read this entry…. You are so right, I loved travelling on my own, because that was always the best way to ‘see’. Hope all is well.
Best wishes

Thanks Liselle. Yes, this reminds me to do this more often myself too…in fact I must plan an afternoon out this month just to sit, watch and should the moment inspire me, pick up my camera
