This wedding was very special. Not only was it a wedding, it was also the groom’s birthday party and a New Year’s Eve party thrown by the couple for all their friends and family. One of the things I love about weddings is when my clients create a celebration that is truly personal to them, that reflects their shared interests, passions and who they are. Whether that means having a classical celebration or something more unusual. This wedding was truly a creative project for the couple, who, with the help of their wedding planner, sourced some wonderful and unique details, and created a celebration that truly reflected how they wanted their day to be. With their passions including 16th century music, history, frogs and classic cars, it promised to be a unique wedding.
And indeed it was: this magical day included a 16th century music concert , a recital of Holbein’s The Ambassador, a wedding breakfast that was based on Mrs Beeton’s Original Cookbook from 1911 (just look at the images of the menu’s), using original illustrations for the namecards and menu’s, and two fabulous cakes. The first was a replica of one of the Groom’s own vintage Austin Healey’s, right down to the little numberplate, and the second a chocolate tier decorated in ferns with two frogs dancing the Charleston on the top. The bride carried a black ostrich feather fan instead of a bouquet, and her bridesmaid a pink ostrich feather fan. There were a lot of children at the wedding and to amuse them a theatre company had been hired and the children learnt scenes from the couple’s favourite films, and performed them at the wedding. Watching 6 year olds reinact a scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind was priceless…. that’s a post in itself!
My clients would prefer not to appear themselves in the feature, but to allow the details of their day to speak on their behalf.
