Vicki & Jonathon are one of the most fun couples I have ever met…. and their wedding was a brilliant, fun, beautiful, upbeat affair that really reflected their personalities and fused beautifully Vicki’s elegant styling ideas and their share sense of fun. Helped by Isobel, their planner who helped make Vicki’s ideas a reality and the day run smoothly, this was an English country wedding at it’s best. The boys started out in a most civilized fashion, with a big lunch around a dining table in a high ceiling room….. but already a sense of mischief was in the air…..and set the tone for the day. As always the girl’s preparations were much more civilised and Vicki was assisted by her bridesmaids who also ensured Lola, the couple’s dear dog, and official ‘Flowerdog’, had her floral collar on in plenty of time.
After a beautiful church ceremony it was back to Bibury Court for champagne & canapes on the lawn. The sun shone and people chatted and laughed merrily. Then, just as we started to take the couples’ portraits, the heavens opened and it was time for a hasty retreat indoors. However, such cosy and intimate quarters served only to engender relations between guests and many said being cosied together brought everyone together and brought an intimacy and bonding to the day earlier than usual, and was in fact a very good thing.
Vicki styled the marquee with interior sets at each end, papering the walls with wallpaper to match the menus. Then console tables and mantlepieces were brought in for the stunning floral arrangements. The nightclub area was transformed with perspex and black furniture, contemporary white flower arrangements, a cool chandelier encased in perspex hanging over the large circular bar, and a stage complete with a huge martini glass, teasing us with what might be to come later…..
Now entertainment during dinner is always a lovely thing, but I can honestly say The London Essentials are one of the BEST bands I have ever seen at a wedding. They are quirky, funny, talented and hugely entertaining. Book them now! They truly add something special to your wedding. The opportunities for photos as the band worked their interactive show around the tables was priceless, getting guests singing and dancing along, and I could barely shoot for laughing.
And so it continued…..a best mans speech that had to be stopped prematurely after a whole hour already….(I think he could have told stories all night, he was quite the raconteur)… a lovely first dance and a bride and groom that ended up, on, yes on, the bar before even I had left.
In true British fashion, we didn’t let the rain dampen our spirits, and so I heard the party went on long into the night….burlesque dancers splashing about in martini glasses and all…..
So finally……to Mr & Mrs Ivory: may you continue to have fun together for the rest of your lives…..I have a feeling that won’t be too hard…..;-)
