Welcome to my Blog!

Welcome to the blog of Polly Alexandre Photography. Thanks for coming to visit...

I am a London & Ibiza based photographer specialising in beautiful and artistic wedding photography. I work all over the UK & abroad producing stylish & special photography that is joyful, emotional and natural.

I am passionate about natural light and film photography and love to create truly beautiful photographs for my clients. When not behind the lens I enjoy food, fashion, and my fat cat Basil, hanging out with Lolo and spending time in Italy, India and Ibiza.

I am also just married myself after marrying my own true love on 3rd April 2012 in the Californian desert. It was amazing!

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Much Love,

Polly

I often get asked whether most weddings take place on a Saturday, and it’s certainly true that especially when I started out a few years back, that weddings were generally on a Saturday. But these days things are changing and I have now shot weddings on every day of the week. There are lots of reason why brides and grooms choose to marry on a day other than a Saturday and I provided all these couples whose weddings I had shot – who each chose a different day of the week to get married on – for a lovely feature in You & Your Wedding Magazine. Here’s Monday to Friday’s couples…..

In the current issue of You & Your Wedding Magazine you can see Gemma & JC’s luxurious real wedding in the Penthouse Suite at The Dorchester Hotel, London. Stylish Gemma chose a Chanel suit for her wedding instead of a traditional wedding dress…..a wonderful idea that she can enjoy for many years to come.

And lastly, not a wedding, but a portrait shoot I did for Sophie at Threads Styling who recently launched Threads Styling Asia with Larissa Rohmig. The girls were featured in January’s issue of Harpers Bazaar Hong Kong.

Formentera

Following on from my last few blog posts about my mini holiday to Formentera, here’s what actually lay ahead for us when we got there…. I adore Formentera for it’s wild beauty, it’s peace and tranquility. That feeling of being truly away from it all….. and part of the landscape.

We stayed at the Gecko Beach club, and watched sunset at the Blue Bar. But mainly we sunbathed, daydreamed, read and relaxed.

Emma & Lee – Wedding Photography at Paissa den Bernat, Ibiza

Emma and Lee fell in love…… and fell in love with the idea of marrying in Ibiza. They just knew it was meant to be on both counts.

So as an interior designer Emma was perfectly placed to channel her creative energies into creating a stylish coordinated navy and cream style to their wedding, and the beautiful stationary she designed herself, the pretty table plan hanging in the trees and the  . Ibiza is a magical place to get married, and I love photographing weddings there. It’s not just the sunshine, the beaches, the bright beautiful flowers against the turquoise of a cool swimming pool…. it;s more than that, the place itself has a wonderful energy. I always find within 24 hours of arriving on the island everything before has melted away and I feel incredibly relaxed and peaceful.

The church of San Agustin doesn’t host many weddings and it was new to me too. In fact it’s actually not an easy place to get married in and it took a special letter from the couple to persuade the vicar to allow them to marry there. They had their hearts set on this tiny atmospheric decorated Catholic church and were determined to make it where they became husband and wife.

After a heartfelt ceremony which culminated in huge grins as they came down the aisle, it was confetti and hopping into a vintage Mercedes for a drive to the clifftop overlooking the big blue sea. The reception was held at Paissa den Bernat, a beautiful villa in San Jose, where Vicky and her team at Eat Ibiza laid on a delicious Mediterranean feast. ‘Eat, Drink & be Merry’ as the couple had written on their handmade menus. Then it was drinking and dancing into the the wee small hours under the stars.

Here’s a little taste of their day. Much love for a long and happy life together Mr & Mrs M!

Ibiza to Formentera

On a snowy icy cold day in London like today, it’s the perfect time to relive warm memories of summer holidays.

Here’s the second post on my mini-holiday (kind of like a mini-moon!)  to Formentera. The other way to travel to the island of Formentera is by ferry, which takes around 45 minutes from Ibiza. There is no airport on the tiny Balearic island of Formentera, which is about 12 miles long, so the only way to reach it is by boat.

But it is as they say, about enjoying the journey, not the just the destination, and one of my favourite moments was seeing the island of Ibiza from the sea, with Dalt Vila, the ancient city on the hill with it’s ramparts and vast terraces, rising above it all. Dalt Vila is a world heritage site dating back to the Phoenician times (1500-300 B.C) and even more impressive when viewed from the sea.

I love the roar of the big engines, mixing with the crash of the waves the big boat creates in it’s wake. And after a stretch of open sea, seeing Formentera appear on the horizon, with it’s promise of tranquility, peace and escape…..

Later this week, Formentera itself.

Lina & Andrew

A huge congratulations to Lina & Andrew who after meeting on Valentine’s Day a few years ago, tied the knot in December at a pre-Christmas wedding. The ceremony was held at Chelsea Registry Office on the Kings Road and the reception at Sketch in Mayfair. Lina is a make up artist and we have previously worked together, so I was thrilled when Lina rang me and asked me to be her wedding photographer. What I didn’t know is that the call I had about the date a few days before was from her romantic fiance, Andrew, who knew she wanted me to shoot her wedding, and was secretly checking I was available before telling her the good news. Lina had a strong idea of what she wanted her look to be, and I love the ethereal dress she wore & the matching white accessories. A true winter princess!

Sketch is quite a special place for me too….. it’s where I had my first proper date with the Man, now my fiance. On Valentine’s Day no less. So to be able to go back and photograph a wedding there was truly special and magical. The food was incredible, the surroundings absolutely stunning with their rich velvety fabrics and warm, opulent colours perfect for a cosy winter celebration. Add a group of special family & friends and some fine food and wine….then mix in the Singing Waiters, the insanely talented silouette artist Alison Russell (this is the first time I had seen a silouette artist at work and she was amazing!) and you have a fun and celebratory evening. Kudos to Sarah Haywood for making it all run so smoothly and for her special touches (I love the mistletoe and glitter ribbon placenames).

So Lina and Andrew, wishing you both a wonderful magical and long life together….may all your dreams come true xxx
