Congratulations Gemma & JC! I love Gemma’s choice of a Chanel 2 piece suit for her wedding, something she had always wanted and decided to treat herself to…so chic! In fact their whole wedding was a chic affair, held in the Penthouse Suite at the Dorchester with small heartfelt ceremony, drinks on the rooftop terrace (with it’s fab London views) and private dinner with close friends & family in the incredibly dramatic and elaborate dining room.
The Olivier Messel Suite includes a listed space which means it has by law to be preserved for future generations & specialist craftsmen brought in to do any repairs. The highly decorative and dramatic suite is named after the renowned theatrical designer who conceived it and it opened in 1953. It has since paid host to such illustrious guests as Marlene Dietrich and Noel Coward, but was probably best known as Elizabeth Taylor’s home from home when she was in the UK, and where she spent her honeymoon with Richard Burton. Being in the space does feel akin to being on the stage, with it’s dramatic silk walls, plasterwork around the door frames, and gold: lots of gold!
It was actually on a recce for their wedding, that I discovered my new found love for the Dorchester…over lunch with a friend I experienced some of the most flawless service ever…. and a custom grilled tuna club sandwich ordered off menu was no trouble at all. Luxurious, decadent and civilised.
If you were a guest at the wedding, you will shortly be able to see their photographs from a link here: check back soon!
