Jenny and Mark had a cool, fun wedding. I was excited to shoot their wedding especially as it is actually just a few minutes from my home in the East End of London. So close in fact I could walk there…. When I saw their playing card invitation I knew it was going to be something special. With a British theme to the day and tons of creative homemade details, the couple pulled together their very individual wedding with the help of friends and family….in fact myself and the caterer were possibly the only suppliers not recruited from within their own circle of friends and family. It all came together brilliantly from the homemade cakestands with retro scotch eggs, to the bunting strung across the huge hall, from the jukebox to Pippa the Ripper who entertained in the evening, as did several bands, arranged by Mark who is also a musician. Jenny’s gorgeous dress is by Dana Bolton
After the ceremony we jumped in a London taxi and I took the newly weds to a little local bar I know…with it’s retro music, eclectic furnishings, ginger ale on tap, the dog, the parrot, the table football….. we hung out, chatted, laughed, had a few drinks, and I photographed. It was just the three of us, and like being on the set of a film. Sometimes there are just moments when everything falls into place….like this first shot of Jenny and Mark dancing together with their drinks which was totally unscripted. I stood back, watched, gave them space to be alone together, a shaft of sunlight came in and I quietly picked up my camera…
You must check out Pippa’s website: she is awesome!
Thank you to you both for trusting in me to create a cool record of your day in your own fun style, and in allowing me to celebrate your relationship with you.

This is Gorgeous. I love the close up of both their faces in black and white in the church. And the close up of the bride’s face in the car. And the details.
And the whole hippedy hop darn thing.
